How to Harvest Lavender

The lavender is blooming on the farm again, so I thought it would be a great time to show everyone how we harvest lavender bouquets. Enjoy!

Harvesting Lavender

Supplies

  • Sharp Knife

  • Rubberband

Instructions

  1. Using your non-dominant hand, grab a bunch of lavender stems.

  2. Take a sharp knife in your dominant hand, place it at the base of the lavender stems, directly above the leafy growth.

  3. Using a smooth, forceful motion, use the knife to cut the lavender. Be sure to move the knife away from your body, not towards it.

  4. Set the lavender stems down and repeat the process until you have harvested the desired amount of lavender stems.

  5. Use a rubber band to bunch the lavender together.

  6. Hang upside down to dry for 2-3 weeks or enjoy in a vase for the next week.
